1 TECH NOTES DOOR TRIM PANEL FIT PROCEDURE Dodge Durango 1998 2003 Dakota Quad Cab 2000 2003 Door Trim Panel Fit Procedure for 741 648 This instruction sheet is for Dodge Dakota Quad Cab and Dodge Durango Some model years require a slight door panel modifi cation for proper fi tment of the new window regulator Check the service manual for window regulator replacement and diagnostic procedures Be sure to check window switches circuit breaker and window glass adjustments to ensure proper operation Tools Required Power drill RTV sealant 3mm 1 8 bit 7mm 9 32 bit 741 648 drilling template available at DormanProducts com Removal and Installation 1 Remove the inner door panel and detach the power window lock connector as per the service manual 2 Remove water dam cover 3 Block up the glass and remove window motor regulator assembly as per the service manual 4 Before installing window regulator door panel must be cleaned and three 3 holes must be drilled Figure 1 IF DOOR HAS HOLES A B AND C FIGURE 1 CHECK AGAINST TEMPLATE AND IF THE HOLES MATCH UP CONTINUE WITH INSTALLATION THE NEW BOLT TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ARE LISTED IN STEP 10 5 Line up the supplied template carefully with the existing holes The three 3 new hole locations are shown on the template Mark the center of the holes on the door and use a mechanical center punch to punch through the template IF USING A HAMMER AND STANDARD CENTER PUNCH WE RECOMMEND YOU TAPE THE TEMPLATE TO THE DOOR Disclaimer Even though every attempt is made to ensure this information is complete and accurate it is impossible to account for all possible circumstances or situations Please consult with a qualifi ed auto technician before attempting to perform any work you are not qualifi ed to do Automobiles can be hazardous to work on be sure to take all necessary safety precautions Failure to do so may result in property damage or personal injury Certain motor vehicle standards and performance requirements may apply to your motor vehicle such as Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards by the National Highway Traffi c Safety Administration Be sure that your work is performed in accordance with such standards and that you do not disable any motor vehicle safety feature ATTENTION Refer to the appropriate shop manual for your vehicle to obtain specifi c service procedures for this part If you do not have a service manual or lack the skill to install this part it is recommended that you seek the services of a qualifi ed technician Pay special attention to all cautions and warnings included in the shop manual Read and follow all instructions carefully 741 648 2 6 Using a 3mm 1 8 drill bit pilot drill the 3 center punch locations After pilot drilling check the holes to the supplied template again 7 Using a 7mm 9 32 drill bit fi nal drill each hole After fi nal drilling deburr and clean all metal chips around the hold in the door 8 Apply a small amount of RTV sealant to the three bolt heads before mounting 9 Reference the service manual and assemble the new window regulator using the new supplied fasteners Two of the motor bolts will have existing threads but the third will need to be started 10 Torque the motor bolts 7 3 Nm 65 inch lbs Torque the regulator bolts to 9 Nm 80 inch lbs 11 Install the inner trim panel and water dam cover 12 Perform a fi nal operation check TECH NOTES DOOR TRIM PANEL FIT PROCEDURE Disclaimer Even though every attempt is made to ensure this information is complete and accurate it is impossible to account for all possible circumstances or situations Please consult with a qualifi ed auto technician before attempting to perform any work you are not qualifi ed to do Automobiles can be hazardous to work on be sure to take all necessary safety precautions Failure to do so may result in property damage or personal injury Certain motor vehicle standards and performance requirements may apply to your motor vehicle such as Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards by the National Highway Traffi c Safety Administration Be sure that your work is performed in accordance with such standards and that you do not disable any motor vehicle safety feature 741 648 ATTENTION Refer to the appropriate shop manual for your vehicle to obtain specifi c service procedures for this part If you do not have a service manual or lack the skill to install this part it is recommended that you seek the services of a qualifi ed technician Pay special attention to all cautions and warnings included in the shop manual Read and follow all instructions carefully
