4 6 LITER FORD INTAKE MANIFOLD INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ATTENTION Refer to the appropriate shop manual for your vehicle to obtain specific service procedures for this part If you do not have a service manual or lack the skill to install this part it is recommended that you seek the services of a qualified technician Pay special attention to all cautions and warnings included in the shop manual Read and follow all instructions carefully Failure to do so will result in severe damage to the intake manifold and to the engine 1 Carefully remove intake manifold per the service procedure outlined in the shop manual 2 Clean mounting surface 3 Reinstall intake manifold per shop manual 4 Tighten intake bolts to 25 nm 18 ft lb DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN 5 Use the graphic below for the torque sequence TECH TIPS This updated manifold does not require additional intake gaskets The intake gaskets are molded into the manifold It is not necessary to replace the hose and thermostat housing Insert the provided spacers under the original thermostat housing and reinstall Replace all injector O rings with new ones Be sure to fully seat the injectors Failure to do so will result in a vacuum leak This manifold is designed to eliminate the double sided throttle body gasket Do not reuse the original The self tapping screws are for mounting the ignition coils Do not use if the engine is not equipped with them KIT CONTENTS This kit contains the following parts 1 universal alternator ignition wire bracket 1 alternator spacer 2 thermostat housing spacers 1 thermostat 1 thermostat housing O ring gasket 10 sheet metal screws 2 Pipe Plugs 2 M5 screws lock washers and nuts DIRECTIONS FOR PARTS USE Do not reuse the original alternator bracket The alternator will not line up properly This kit is designed so that the original thermostat housing can be reused Place the thermostat housing spacers into the holes under the original thermostat housing and reinstall The sheet metal screws are used for installing the ignition coils to the manifold If your vehicle is not equipped with ignition coils do not use them If the original crossover has a single sensor it will be necessary to use the Pipe Plug supplied in the kit If the original crossover has no sensors it will be necessary to install both of the Pipe Plugs supplied in the kit This manifold is equipped with a rubber cap installed on the heater hose fitting located at the rear of the manifold If a heater hose is to be installed remove the cap and clamp Install the hose and tighten to the proper torque specifications found in the shop manual Vehicles with a clearance issue of the EGR Vacuum Control will require the installation of the additional spacer bracket provided in order to clear the intake runner on the manifold The bracket will lift the EGR Vacuum Control over the manifold runner To install remove the EGR Vacuum Control install the bracket in the original location and reattach the EGR Vacuum Control NOTE Failure to install the bracket will result in damage to the EGR Vacuum Control Assembly
