JDA9317 PT 12 0005 Brake Bleeding Vehicles With Antilock Brakes All vehicles with Antilock Brake Systems ABS The brake pedal has a spongy feel after replacing parts or opening the brake system When the brake system is opened for any repair air is introduced into the system ABS brake systems may require special tools or equipment to help remove all the air A scan tool that can interface with the ABS system may be required to cycle the pump and open the valves forcing the air out of the ABS unit Some ABS units will require their motors to be reset HOMED before bleeding of the remainder of the system is possible You are urged to use a manufacturers shop manual for vehicle specific procedures After the ABS unit itself is bled the remainder of the system can be bled following typical bleeding procedures using regular tools Again please refer to the vehicle service manual for specific procedures This Pro Tech is supplied as information only and is not an authorization for repair Refer to manufacturers shop manual for specific procedures Application Problem Solution Note
