intermittent wiper board assembly that covered GM trucks from 1988 through 2003 model years Unknown at the time of production were several design defects that did not surface until later These defects eventually led to a recall by GM Original Unit Failures The original unit used a technique in which the electronic components were soldered to the surface of the board As part of the build process a clear coating called Conformal coat was sprayed on the board to protect the electronic components and the circuit board from corrosion In the original configuration the Conformal coating would move components that were soldered to the board as it heated and cooled This pushing and pulling motion caused component connections to come loose As a direct result of thermal stress cracks would appear on the surface of the printed circuit board These cracks due to poor quality solder joints would open when the board got hot Any of these conditions could lead to intermittent operation or in some cases complete failure of the intermittent function of the wipers DORMAN Improvements The Dorman 88136 incorporates several improvements new soldering techniques a double sided board with plated
